Principal's Welcome Message

Dear Parents, Carers and the St Joseph’s Community,

Zdravo – which is simply ‘hello’ in Croatian. Last week I was fortunate to travel to Croatia with my wife to enjoy the incredible sights and sounds, and food, of the Adriatic Coast. While away, I had time travelling through the 600 year old ‘old town’ of Dubrovnik and down as far as Kotor in Montenegro. It is amazing to think about the history that these regions of the world hold and, in particular, the changes and challenges that have been faced over the centuries. What struck me most though, was the incredible connection, regardless of the language barrier, that exists between all of us. The friendliness, pride and welcome that was extended to us as we spent time in Croatia, was a highlight for me. Thank you to Amy and all the staff for ensuring that life continued here at school in my absence.

Lights, Camera, Action

It is amazing to think that after months of planning and preparation that it is only one week until our school musical, ‘A Night in the Library’ premiers! Open night has sold out but at present, we have limited tickets available for our Thursday evening performance and ample available for our matinee sessions. Tickets are available on Qkr! until 4pm Thursday, after this time they can be purchased from the Front Office. All purchased tickets will be sent home on Monday with the students.

For the evening performances, students will need to arrive at school by 5:15pm (main cast to arrive at 4:30pm). Students will be supervised in classrooms for the duration of the musical and will be able to be collected from designated rooms at the conclusion of the musical.

Playground Plans

Last week, Phil from Wellspring Environmental Arts and Design met with our Kids Committee (which comprises of a representative from each class) to listen to their ideas for our Nature Play Space at the Boronia Drive end of our school oval. Phil will be coming back tomorrow to share his initial design plans with teachers, School Board members and the Kids Committee. We are excited about providing a stimulating and engaging playground to allow for creative play for the students.

World of Maths Incursion

On Thursday and Friday students will be participating in a World of Maths incursion. Students will be able to immerse themselves in fun and engaging hands-on activities to problem solve and discover mathematical concepts and ideas. Thank you to Esther Coghlan for organising this experience for the students.

Have a great end to the week.

Yours in Christ,

Cameron Tarrant
